Why I’m Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because my Great Grandfather and Great Grandmother heard Mormon Missionaries in Denmark in 1867 and were baptized into the Church. The story of their faith and sacrifice to join the Church and come to America is inspiring. Thanks to them I was born into a family who had deep roots in the Church.

However, I continue in the faith today because I have a personal testimony and unshakable witness that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord’s Church for the last days and the only true church on the earth today that has the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, including a living Prophet and 12 Apostles and the Priesthood authority of God.

I remain a Mormon because I have felt the Spirit of God confirm in my soul that this is true. As Paul taught, “The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are children of God, and if children, heirs of God and joint-heirs with Christ…” (Romans 8:16-17)

I know this is true. We are all brothers and sisters, children of the same Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ is our older brother, the first born of our Heavenly Father. He has shown us the way to true happiness in this life and in the life to come. From the beginning He has shown us this plan through His Prophets and the scriptures he commanded them to write for us.

I know that God lives and loves us all so much that he answers our personal prayers. He answered mine when at age 16 I prayed to ask if The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was His True Church. He answered me by His Spirit who spoke to my soul. I heard the words in my mind and felt His Spirit confirm the witness in my soul. That testimony filled every fiber of my being. I know without a doubt that came from God as a direct answer to my prayer.

I am a Mormon because I have found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints the same organization that Christ set up personally when he was upon the earth. I love and want to follow Him. I know that Christ is my older brother, my hope, my strength, my perfect example and the Savior of the world.

Reason, logic and consistent doctrinal conformity with all the scriptures bears witness that it is Christ’s only true and living church. But most of all, the Spirit of God has borne witness to me that it is His Church.

I believe the words of the Apostle Paul, who said “There is one body, and one Spirit, One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all. (Ephesians 4:4-6); Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus (Eph 3:21). “Christ is the head of the church” (Eph. 5:23); “he is the head of the body, the church.” (Col 1:18)

“And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ; Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ.” (Ephesians chapter 4: 11-13).

We still need Apostles and Prophets today because we most certainly have not yet “come to a unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God.” We still need the same organization that Christ established in order to learn and understand His teachings and how to apply them in the 21st Century so that, as Paul taught,  “we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ: (Eph 4:14-15)

I believe that Christ has restored His Church in our day to accomplish this as he said he would through his chief Apostle, Peter, “…when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you: Whom the heaven must receive until the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

I  am thankful that I have seen this day and have this knowledge that Christ has not left us comfort-less or without Prophets. I know that he continues to guide us today through a living Prophets and Apostles. I want to share this knowledge with everyone around me because it has brought me so much joy, comfort and strength.

I hope that you will open your heart and your mind to the messages and testimony of the Prophets and Apostles whose writings I have compiled in this blog. May the Spirit of the Lord bear witness to your soul of the truthfulness of these things so that you to can receive and feel and experience the joy of the fullness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His witness through the Spirit of God that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is His Church, which He Restored in these the Last Days to bless all mankind and to prepare us all for His eminent and glorious Second Coming.
